“City of Hope, is a cancer center ‘focused on rapidly transforming scientific discoveries into better treatments and better prevention strategies for not only cancer, but also diabetes, HIV/AID and other life-threatening diseases.'” Among the many institutional distinctions, City of Hope, with its 41 comprehensive cancer centers across the U.S., has had numerous breakthrough cancer drugs, which are used today to save lives worldwide.

In an effort to support this continuous fight through research, City of Hope has created a one-of-a-kind annual event, Yoga for Hope, which has been hosted in Seattle since 2009. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, July 19, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral (10th Ave E) on Capitol Hill. The yoga community is uniting in support of this fundraising event which will include a yoga practice and music.

Rob and Melissa Lundsgard will be leading the music for the evening while numerous yoga instructors will be teaching the yoga session, including: Patrick Beach, Lisa Black, Dora Gyarmati, John Jessum, Jo Parsons and Michael Warner. All of the funds raised will go directly towards research for this life-saving work.

To contribute and become a crucial part of this effort you can:

  • First, register to attend the Yoga For Hope event
  • Second, take a ”selfie” holding a sign that says: “I support Yoga for Hope” and then share your picture with the sign on social media using the hashtag #SupportYogaForHope

Join the event to share the benefits of yoga in this wonderful venue, to connect with other philanthropists and most importantly to become a part of the groundbreaking research that will save the lives of the people that we love.
